Clothing- An Introduction


With the advent of the human civilization some 650,000 years ago, clothing has become an avoidable part of a man’s day to day life. During the early days of civilization, man used to wear clothes to cover the body and provide safety barriers against various odds including different hazardous activities like cooking and hiking. Clothing also served the function of providing hygienic barriers against various toxins and germs floating in the surrounding atmosphere.
But now time has changed and so has the function portrayed by clothes. Now clothes are not only restricted to serving the function of protection and covering. In modern society, norms about clothing reflect standards of modesty, religion, gender and social status. Most recently, clothing has got a synonym “OUTFITS”.
Wide range of materials has been used by the manufacturers to prepare the outfits ranging from leather and furs to woven and woolen materials, to elaborate and exotic natural and synthetic fabrics. These fabrics have been used to make different types of outfits that are available in the commercial market. These outfit types range from seasonal to casual outfits, modern outfits to traditional outfits, business outfits and many more. Correct choice of outfits depends upon the individuals’ physical features like his/her height, weight, etc.
Tips to Organize your Clothes in your Closet

• Put more shelves in your closet. Place your clothes close to one another in order to avoid having to dig through piles in order to find out what you want.
• Separate your clothing by the category: office, daily, occasional, etc.
• Hang your suits and outfits separately to expand your wardrobe options.
• Organize your wardrobe by first taking out all the clothes and then arranging them according to different categories of your choice.
• You can categorize your closet according to mend, donate or store, according to your preferences for your clothes.
• If you want to keep a particular outfit, you can always hang it back in your closet.
• Don’t keep your memorable clothes in the closet. To manage your closet space, you can always keep your memorable clothes under-the-bed container.
• Arrange your footwear in the closet shelves with the right shoe pointing in and the left shoe pointing out. This will give you more space to store other shoes and also you can have a better view of both your footwear color as well as their heel size.
• Have a shoe spot near your entrance door. Take off your shoes as soon as you enter the house. This will keep your house cleaner.
• Decide about your tomorrow’s outfit, including your foot wear tonight only. Make sure there are no missing buttons or any stains or spots on clothes and that are properly ironed.
• Establish a place in your closet for empty hangers and for the clothes that you need to give to the laundry. On the laundry day, simply carry them to the laundry.
